Blossom is a study of growth, movement, and becoming. Made with charcoal pencil on paper The work shows a woman with a flower growing from her face. To me, the flower represents growth, the part of us that continues to grow even after life has placed so much weight on us. The lady represents someone who refuses to remain in one place. She has experienced things. She has carried expectations, struggles, responsibilities, lessons, and moments that may have changed her. But she is still moving. I believe growth does not always look the way we expect it to. Sometimes growth means carrying things you never thought you could carry. Sometimes it means becoming someone different from who you were yesterday. And sometimes, growth simply means choosing to keep going. That is what Blossom represents to me. It is about becoming. It is about movement. It is about refusing to remain stagnant, no matter what life places in your way.

The Story Behind the Artwork

When I look at Blossom, I see someone who is growing. I see someone who has carried weight, experienced difficult moments, learned from life, and still chooses to move forward. The flower coming from the woman’s face is important to me because it represents the growth that can come from everything we experience. Sometimes, the things we go through change us. They can be uncomfortable, heavy, or difficult to understand while we are going through them, but they can also shape who we become. For me, the woman is on a journey. She is not where she used to be, but she is also not finished becoming who she will be. That is why I called the piece Blossom. It is a reminder that we do not have to have everything figured out before we can grow. We can grow while carrying our responsibilities. We can grow after failure. We can grow through uncomfortable experiences. We can grow simply by refusing to stop moving. The flower is a symbol of that growth.
