Deep within the shade of the ancient mahogany grove, the silence of the forest was broken only by the steady rhythm of a chisel striking wood. Old Master Kojo worked with slow, reverent hands, shaving away thin curls of timber until the spirit resting within the block began to breathe. He was not merely carving a shape; he was giving form to Simba, the legendary lion who had guarded the village borders for generations before vanishing into local lore. ​As Kojo carved, he shaped the lion in a dynamic, low pounce—left leg extended forward, right leg bent, and jaws open in a silent, watchful roar. He left the raw, light-colored wood unpolished, preserving the deep grooves along its flanks to mirror the strength and scars of a true forest king. ​When the carving was finally placed upon a polished dark plinth inside the village council hall, it was said that any traveler who stood before it could feel a subtle warmth emanating from the wood. To the villagers, it was not an object of stone or metal, but a living piece of the forest itself—a symbol of quiet vigilance, reminding all who entered that strength need not be loud to be felt.
