STORY BEHIND THE WORK: THE DEVIL BEHIND THE MASK This is one of the reasons I created this artwork, the moment where my phone was stolen from me in church in the presence of God.In one moment, what I built for years was cut off. No reference, no post, nothing to show. I knew it was not a stranger. It was someone who knew me very well. I painted that moment, I painted the person as the devil behind the mask.The friend who smiles but hides a weapon behind the mask. He comes beautiful to deceive you, so you will not see. Those black dots you see are the shame the devil tried to put upon my life. God turned them to white. Now the canvas is filled with white dots that is faith standing with nothing, that is strength, that is power. The brownish color on his face is evil blood running through him, yet claiming to be pure, but not pure.This was the only artwork I did at that moment to remember that scene and to recover from it. I translated the pain, the ripping, into painting. This is THE DEVIL BEHIND THE MASK.
