Living room

The living room is where art does the most work. One large statement piece above a sofa or a carefully arranged series of medium works creates an anchor for the whole room. Aim for a piece (or group) that is roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture below it.

Bedroom

Softer, calmer works suit bedrooms — landscapes, muted abstracts, photography with quiet tones. Avoid overly busy or intense imagery if the goal is rest.

Hallway and entrance

Vertical works and smaller series shine in transitional spaces. A strong piece near the entrance sets the tone for the whole home.

Home office

Art behind your desk is visible on video calls. Choose something that reflects your values and is bold enough to read on camera without overwhelming the frame.

Sizing rules of thumb

• Above a sofa: width ≈ ⅔ of the sofa
• Above a bed: width ≈ ½ to ⅔ of the headboard
• Narrow wall / hallway: vertical orientation
• Large blank wall: one big piece often beats many small ones
